Amami Oshima Island is located halfway between Kagoshima and Okinawa Prefectures. You can enjoy cuisine unique to Amami Oshima, which has a different food culture from that of the mainland. Starting with kushikatsu (pork skewers) featuring Amami's brand-name pork "Akarinton," Amami's specialty "Chicken rice" is served as ramen for lunch. There is also a wide selection of Amami brown sugar shochu, which is only allowed to be produced in the Amami Islands of Kagoshima Prefecture.
